This section of the toolkit houses information on workshops related to Marine Conservation Agreements (MCAs) and on conferences related to submerged lands management. In the United States and Canada (as well as some other countries), submerged lands management is a vital aspect of many MCAs. As such, the submerged lands management conferences can provide important insights for MCA project managers.

The site will be updated as additional information becomes available and new workshops and conferences are held. Current meeting information includes:

• WCC '08 — The Learning Event, A Private Sector Approach for Practitioners—Conservation Agreements in Support of Marine Protection, was held in October 2008 in Barcelona, Spain, at the World Conservation Congress. This workshop provided training for 40 participants on what MCAs are, how to determine if they can help meet their ocean and coastal conservation goals, and how to plan and proceed with MCA projects.
• PMCA '08 — The workshop, A Private Sector Approach: Conservation Agreements in Support of Marine Protection, was held in June 2008 on Bainbridge Island, Washington State, U.S.A. This workshop brought together 55 experts from different organizations and locations from around the globe to help determine how best MCAs can contribute to the protection of the world's oceans and coasts.
• ISLMC '08 — The 27th Annual International Submerged Lands Management Conference was held in October 2008 in Traverse City, Michigan. U.S.A. The conference provided a forum for public and private managers to exchange information regarding the management of submerged lands within the United States, the Provinces of Canada, and the Caribbean basin.
• ISLMC '07— The 26th Annual International Submerged Lands Management Conference was held in October-November 2007 in Williamsburg, Virginia, U.S.A. The conference spotlighted issues surrounding the administration of submerged lands and adjacent uplands, primarily in the U.S. and Canada.
