Purpose

The MCA training workshop was one of eight modules in a multi-organization initiative called CAPAMP (Programa de Creación de Capacidades para las Áreas Marinas Protegidas en el Golfo de California). The initiative seeks to increase capacity and effective management in marine areas by enhancing knowledge and skills of key staff and stakeholders through intensive training designed from local diagnostics of capacity building needs in the Gulf of California and surrounding areas.

Goals

The goals of the MCA training workshop included helping participants understand:

  • What MCAs are
  • If and how MCAs can help participants achieve their conservation goals
  • How to establish and implement MCAs
  • Where participants can go for additional information and assistance related to MCAs
